If you analyze, then you will find that every successful blog is fast loading. For making your blog successful, you must reduce your website’s maximum load time. But before taking any step, we should know how to test our web page speed. There are many online tools available out there to analyze web page speed.

In this article, I will suggest you top 5 tools to check website load time. These tools are reliable and generate an accurate result. You can use one of this tool to check your web page speed.

Among many tools, this one is my favorite for measuring website’s load time and performance. According to me, this one is best, and I will recommend you to use this tool.

GTMetrix will generate a complete report of your web page speed. It will analyze and suggest you every critical issue of your site based on website speed optimization. The auto generated report of GTMetrix includes both page speed and ySlow.

From the historical report of GTMetrix, you will come to know how the page load time of your site is changing day by day. Here is a screenshot:

Negative :
  • There is no significant negative impact is found for this tool.

According to me, this is the second best tool for measuring a web page speed. One can easily understand its features, so this tool is very user-friendly. After analyzing page speed with this tool, you will get a complete load time report for the different location. If your website is slow, then this tool will give a suggestion for your web page speed optimization.

Positive :
  • Page load time report summary will be presented to you.
  • You will get a complete report for the different location.
  • YSlow report is also available.

Negative :
  • We could miss some valuable information while using this tool because the ergonomics is very weak.
  • This tool will not generate an automated page speed report.

This is an exceptional tool for measuring page speed because you will get much additional information except page speed by using this tool. This tool is very effective in the case of analyzing page speed. Every single page element like images, javascript, HTML, CSS files, missing attributes, etc will be analyzed by this tool if you use it.

Positive :
  • Each and every element will be analyzed with this page speed measuring tool.
  • It will generate additional reports on missing attributes, page size, compression, etc.

Negative :
  • You will not get a complete solution for improving web page speed.
  • The final result part is based on 56k connections.

Still now the suggested tools provide complete, and detail report on page speed but this tool will not provide a complete report. This page speed analyzing tool will show you only the final load time of your webpage. So this is a simple tool to know your web page speed without analysis report.

Using firebug is very easy because this is a browser extension. This extension will work fine with firefox and google chrome. It is used by many web developer worldwide for measuring web page speed.

  • These are not automated.
  • Only chrome and firefox supports these extensions.

Perfect Use Of JavaScript: After analyzing if you notice that your webpage is containing unnecessary javascript files then try to remove them. A lot of javascript files could make your site super slow. Even don’t use a lot of advertisement on one page which is served through javascript. Try to minify JavaScripts in a single file if possible. You can use this tool to compress javascript.

Validate And Minify CSS: I have noticed that many website’s CSS files are not well-formatted and contain a lot of errors. My suggestion is validating your website’s CSS codes by using w3css validator. Also, try to minify all of your CSS files to improve page load time. You can use this tool to minify CSS.

Validate And Minify HTML: If you are using any third party template then you should validate the HTML code by using w3html validator. Simply visit the link and put your web address into the address box to validate HTML of your website. For increasing page load time you can minify HTML of your site. This is the recommended tool to minify HTML.

Optimize Media Files: Unnecessary use of media files will slow down your website. Media files take more time to load than text. Before uploading media files on your blog, you should compress those file size to increase page speed.

The most used media file is the image so try to resize images before uploading in your blog. That meant if you need an image which width will be 650px then don’t upload 2000px and then set width with parameter through CSS like “width=’650px’.” Try to crop and resize that image into 650px and then upload it.
